- After
a week in Southern California visiting family and friends, I
returned to Chile
in mid-November, where I spent a month. The first week was in
Buchupureo about seven hours south of Pichilemu. Spring is a nice
time to be in Chile!
- Moving
east from South Africa, I used Bangkok
Thailand as my travel hub in Southeast Asia and Indonesia from early
September through the 1st week in November. Bangkok is a large,
vibrant, historically rich and congested city. October 31 -
November 5, I went to Chiang
Mai in an area known as the 'Golden Triangle' of northwestern
Thailand. October 23 - 28, I was in Luang
Prabang, a World Heritage site in the heart of Northern Laos.
October 18 - 21, I was in Angkor
Wat and Angkor Thom, another World Heritage site outside of Siem
Reap in Cambodia. October 11 - 16, I was on Phuket
Island in the Andaman Sea in southwestern Thailand.
- Some
photos taken during a month (September 7 - October 5) in Bali
and East Java. While Bali has changed quite a bit since my first
visit there just after high school way back when, the surfing breaks
are still there and the people are wonderful as they always have
been. It was a joy to be there.
- After
leaving South America, I spent ten days in beautiful Cape
Town South Africa before moving up the coast to Durban. My
primary destination in South Africa was Jeffreys
Bay. 'J Bay' is the home of several world-class breaks,
including Super Tubes where I had the good fortune to watch the
Billabong Pro, a contest on the world championship surfing circuit.
After Jeffreys Bay, I stopped at several places in the Transkei/Wild
Coast area.
- Photos
taken during 3 1/2 months in Chile
(February - May). During this time, I went on several road trips,
the longest was two weeks. I was based in Pichilemu on the central
coast, the surfing capital of the country.
- My
second trip in three summer seasons to Sinaloa
Surf Adventures turned out very well. I went with with a group
of friends from my pre-college school days. We just missed Hurricane
Lane, causing us to spend a fun but unplanned layover in
Mazatlan.
- I
went to very remote and upscale Nihiwatu
Resort on the island of Sumba with friends Larry French, Ang
McDonald and Doug Mahon. Sumba is located several islands east of
Bali near Komodo and Flores in Indonesia. It was an amazing and
memorable trip.
- Some
photos from a trip to the Grand
Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. The natural beauty of this
unique land and its wild life is hard to describe.
- Here
are a few shots from a road trip to Death
Valley I took with my father. It is a very interesting and
beautiful place, and I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about
going there.
